Please welcome Richard Mackenzie Ross who has joined The Angel, Dartmouth as Restaurant Manager.

Richard is a Scot by birth (…although he doesn’t sound like one!) so can give you plenty of tasting advice on our whisky selection as well as the dishes on our menu.

Richard has an MBA in Hospitality and gained a wealth of experience working for several hotels in Scotland and Poland, as well as the renowned Michael’s Nook Hotel in Cumbria. Married with one young son, Richard is looking forward to bringing his family down to join him in Devon. In the meantime, you’ll see him out early most mornings, walking his Scottie dog Oscar along the Embankment.

The Angel, Dartmouth is delighted to welcome Matt D’Netto to play at the restaurant on the evening of Saturday 12th May 2012 as part of Dartmouth Music Festival.

Matt was born in 1985 in Bournville, Birmingham, first taking up the guitar at the age of 15 at secondary school under the tuition of Bryan Lester. The following year Matt joined the Birmingham School’s Guitar Ensemble (BSGE), working through an eclectic range of musical styles from classical and baroque to flamenco and gypsy jazz.

Matt attended the University of Birmingham from 2003-2007, graduating with a Masters in Physics. During this time, Matt took every opportunity to perform at various weddings and functions, often alongside fellow BSGE alumnus and Birmingham Consevatoire graduate Thomas Abela. Following graduation, Matt attended Oxford University for a year and a half as a research student in the field of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a topic close to his heart as his older brother has MS.

After leaving Oxford in 2009, Matt moved back to Birmingham and undertook various volunteering opportunities with the Birmingham branch of the MS Society, driving the branch minibus, helping to organise support groups for ethnic minorities with MS and young people affected my MS. After sitting on the committee for a few months Matt helped to fill a vacancy as Chairman of the branch, representing local MS Society members at regional level.

Since moving to Birmingham Matt has returned to performing at weddings, functions and recitals along with providing private tuition. Keen to build and refine his repertoire and add to his experience of playing at venues such as the Birmingham City Council House, the Adrian Boult Hall and Symphony Hall, Matt continues to study under the guidance of Mark Eden of the Eden Stell Guitar Duo at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
